Goodbye life with immobilty...Hello life with chaos!

It has been an extremely busy but fun last 3 months since we have posted. As you can see from the title of the post and our infrequent updating of the blog that life has become much more chaotic at the Pierce Home, but we are having a blast.

Aiden is crawling all over the house, pulling up on EVERYTHING, including Mom and Dad and is a total ham. We were at a wedding shower last weekend and Aiden was giving Mom and Mimi (Grandma Gall) raspberries on their faces and his other trademark talent that can only be seen and not described. He was eating up all the attention and laughter! Of course, he crashed hard about 30 minutes later. He is already starting to pick on his sister by pulling her hair or hitting her. He of course looks to see if we're watching when he does this and if she does anything back he will look at us and then if we're watching he'll manage to bring on a frown and maybe get out a fake cry or a couple tears. We're pretty sure he's going to be our troublemaker...which is what I said from the very beginning when I could only ever feel him kicking nonstop in utero!

The first picture below is how I found Aiden after returning from the bathroom. We didn't know he could pull himself up to standing.

Ella is probably going to skip crawling, at least for now. She just wants to walk...ALL the time. She is cruising along furniture, walking around the house holding onto one hand and walking behind push toys. She has taken a few steps on her own and is getting steadier every day. We have to keep a close eye on her because she'll get a look in her eye and just walk away from the couch or a toy and more often then not she falls after a couple steps. We're hoping she learns to bend at her hips or knees when she falls soon, as she isn't too graceful right now (it's more like a board falling). Needless to say, she's very frustrated and wants to be able to do it RIGHT NOW...Dad says she gets it from Mom:) Ella is definitely a little princess. She will cry at the slightest bump or if Aiden merely touches her, but she's starting to get back at him a little bit.

9 month check-up

Wow! It's been a really long time since we have updated this...such is life with twins! They had their 9 month check-up last week and both are doing well. Aiden was 17 lbs 4oz and Ella was 16 lbs 2 oz. Both were measured at 27.5 inches (we think Ella is longer than Aiden).

5 Months and Counting

It's hard to believe they are 5 months already. They're doing so many new things each day.
  • Aiden rolls from his back to his tummy and
  • Ella wants to stand all the time and will hop back and forth from one leg to the other in the jumperoo.
  • They both love the exersaucers and will play for quite a while in them, allowing Mommy and Daddy to get some things done!
  • This morning they really started sitting up with very little support and even unsupported for about 30 seconds. They think they're pretty BIG as you can see from the pictures!

We started oatmeal cereal last weekend. We thought Aiden would be the one to love it and that we would have a hard time getting Ella to eat it...boy, were we wrong! Ella loves her cereal and Aiden didn't care for it. We tried it again this morning with him and he's doing better each day. Ella would probably eat whatever Aiden didn't!

With all of these new things they have decided to protest sleep. They have been waking more at night, although still just requiring us to replace a pacifier, thank goodness. Naps...what are those? We were doing pretty well with a structured day of Eat, Activity, Sleep but the last week they have decided they will only take 30 minute naps for Mommy and Daddy because they are so excited to play with us.

4 month update

Aiden and Ella had their 4 month well-visit today. They each gained 2 1/2 lbs in the last 2 months. Aiden was 12 lbs 12 oz and 23.5 inches long. Ella was 11 lbs 12.5 oz and 24 inches long. While, they measured Ella a bit longer we all think they are about the same length. It's hard to get the length when they are squirming around and the nurse is using a pen to mark on the table paper.

First Christmas

We had a great time visiting with friends and family over the holiday. They had a great first Christmas. The trip to see Santa was a success with very few people in front of us in line. They got so many wonderful gifts that they wanted to play with their new toys instead of take naps.

All of the excitement getting ready for Christmas is tiring!

Our first visit to see Santa

They love their new mirrors! They look at themselves and smile.
